The power of sound

Sound has been used to heal and balance many aspects of our lives over thousands of years. It has been linked with all the great spiritual philosophies of the world and has been woven into the fabric of humankind through time. I truly believe sound and music is one of the closest things we have to magic, it can affect us in such profound and trans-formative ways. It can instantly make us happy, it can instantly make us sad, it can alter our brain waves and affect us on so many levels down to a molecular level. I am so passionate about the power of sound and I really want to show people the powerful effects this practice can have on the body.

Let's start with the physical impact of sound; sound affects matter, and transmits energy into whatever it comes into contact with. We are 70 percent water per cell so sound waves are able to cause a wave like vibration resonating through the body and energy pathways. Sound can help with pain reduction, pain receptors can only handle a certain amount of information so when penetrated with sound their ability to transmit pain impulse reduces. When we experience therapeutic sound immersion the body goes into a deep state of rest which creates an overall sense of well-being causing the body's natural healing response to kick in. It is well known that when the body is at peace it can start to heal along with boosting the immune system when coming out of that fight and flight response that most people live in, in society today. If we think about kidney stones these are broken up through sound, this is done through playing a sound that matches a resonant frequency of the stones then turning the volume up to break them up. Everything within the body has its own resonant frequency.

When we look at the mental and emotional effects of sound we already know how music can drastically transform our emotions. Many individuals believe many illnesses and diseases are caused by stuck emotions in the body that manifest into a physical ailment. Emotions within the body are very similar to music and sound, when we think of emotions as music we envision a smooth flow but when an emotion gets stuck it's almost like a broken record. Sound coupled with intention can help us to break down these stuck emotions and help us tap into our subconscious where we can alter limiting beliefs and behaviours.

When we are exposed to sound waves they can produce something called a binaural beat, and these frequencies can en train our brain into deep states of medication, higher emotions of love and joy and en train the brain to enter a alpha, theta and delta brain waves which are associated with deep trance, meditation and sleep. At the most basic level, sound, music and rhymes create consistent vibrations mentally that enable us to deeply focus, and when thoughts are focused and flow smoothly this reduces stress and anxiety and promotes a sense of peace and clarity. The power of sound can bring spiritual transformation and healing along with emotional and energetic shifts.

Along with offering 1:1 sound healing I am available to run private sound bath events along with regular sound events held at MUSE wellness retreats located opposite, a beautiful wellness space that holds regular classes, events and workshops and available to hire.
